Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD)

The purpose of our CCD program is to give religious instructions to the kids who are not attending a Catholic School. Our goal along with their parents is to lead our children into a relationship with God and prepare them for the sacraments. We provide classes for children in Kindergarten through Eighth grade.

Children must be enrolled in classes all year in order to be eligible to receive sacraments. Penance/Reconciliation is held prior to First Communion/First Eucharist, usually during the month of April, and Confirmation begins in seventh grade, confirmed in eighth grade during the month of May.

New parishioners registering kids here at St. Peter Claver should bring certificates of Baptism. After any sacraments received at St. Peter Claver, we will notify the parish of Baptism.

Our classes begin on Catechetical Sunday in September and close the week before First Communion in May, usually the first Sunday. They are held at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday in the school classrooms. A calendar is provided at the beginning of the term for all parents.

We have a volunteer staff of Catechists and assistants. Our kids present a Christmas program each year and also actively participate in their First Eucharist.

CCD CLASSES - SUNDAY SCHOOL

Students who are in kindergarten through eighth grade and who are not already in a Catholic School attend religious education classes on Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Classes begin in September and end in May of each year. To fulfill the promises made to your children at the time of their Baptism, parents must have their children attending religious education classes regularly and from the beginning of the year to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. Volunteer teacher aides are always needed. Registration takes place in August. New members should call the Parish Office @ 743 1454 to register for religious education classes.

RCIA / ADULT EDUCATION

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults - the RCIA - is for people who want to learn about the Catholic faith or to become Catholic. If you're already Catholic, the Course would be the Lord's Way of deepening your awareness of his love for you. The Course begins in September and lasts until Easter. We invite everyone who would like to understand our Catholic Faith better, to come join us.
