FAMILY ADVANCEMENT MINISTRY (FAM)
Formerly Mother and Child and Nazareth Life Ministries, focuses on assisting families in difficult situations through individualized support, aid and education. We serve pregnant women 18 years or older and a person who is parenting children 6 or under and lives in Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Peach, Monroe and Twiggs counties. We focus on helping parents advance their skills to better support their families independently. We offer a variety of classes to assist them in achieving their goals. We offer comprehensive assistance based on individual case management. We need volunteers for the clothing ministry (sorting, matching, washing, helping clients); telephone receptionist to greet, and prepare client folders; financial support for all operations; workers for newsletter, mailings and upcoming events; slightly used or new clothing for boys and girls up to 6 years old.
EVANGELIZATION MINISTRY
Evangelization means proclaiming the Good News. Here at St. Peter Claver we are charged with fostering a spirit of evangelization within and outside our parish community. Evangelization means that our parish reaches out to others with love, friendship and a spirit of fellowship. We engage in evangelization within our parish community in many ways: Visiting the sick, Seder Supper during Lent and other activities. Individuals willing to share their time are invited to join. Several teams active within this ministry are: Hunger, Heart, Health, Home and Haven/Head.
ST VINCENT de PAUL
Inspired by Gospel values, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads men and women to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering. Essential to the Vincentian Mission is visiting the needy in their homes. A Vincentian's personal presence in the home brings those that reside there, the presence of the Lord. We respond to the needs of the individuals and the families to provide emergency, short-term material assistance such as: food, utility bill payments, shelter, clothing, furniture and household goods, and bus passes, etc. We are supported by private donations and Sunday collections from St. Peter Claver, St. Joseph, and Holy Spirit Catholic Churches. Orientation and Home-visit Training are held. A regular monthly meeting of perhaps an hour's duration to discuss the recent home-visits plans for any follow-up, Conference finances and any change in procedure or policy is held. Please consider being a part of this ministry helping those in need.
