Parish Ministries
Eucharistic Ministers
This ministry consists of people who have expressed an interest in assisting in the distribution of the body and blood of Christ to the family of faith gathered at the celebration of Mass. Eucharistic Ministers are assigned after orientation, training and commissioning by the Priest or Bishop, to the specific Masses on a rotational basis. These ministers also give the Eucharist to our sick and shut-in members.
Hispanic Ministry
The Hispanic Ministry fosters active participation in the life of the Church and Parish and promotes collaboration among the different cultures and ministries in all dimensions of Christian Life.
Music Ministry
This ministry is open to all members of St. Peter Claver. You may serve our parish by leading the congregation in singing the hymns and liturgical responses during Mass. All individuals willing to share their musical gift and love of singing to glorify and praise God through song are invited to participate. Music ministers may sing, cantor or play musical instruments.
Sacristans
Our Sacristans are entrusted with the ministry of preparing for the Celebration Mass and making sure all is in order when the Celebration is finished. The variety of duties include setting up and clearing away the Credence Table and offertory table, preparing the bread and wine, readying the chalices and other items necessary for Communion and purifying the sacred vessels after Mass. The Sacristans arrive at least 30 minutes prior to Mass.
Ushers
The Usher welcomes guests to our Church and offers a friendly smile and helping hand to parishioners as well. They are here to serve and make you feel welcome and to say goodbye. They are responsible for seeing that all visitors sign the "Visitors Book". The Ushers arrive approximately fifteen minutes prior to the assigned celebration. Their responsibilities include helping with the collection and the offertory, directing people to their sits and to the reception of Communion. Ushers are a vital part of every Mass. We welcome anyone who has the extra time to serve.
Youth Group
We have an active youth group that is centered on the spiritual, cultural and social development of our young people. The youth group takes an active part in the workings of the Parish as well as participating in Diocesan activities.
